The University is committed to maintaining a safe environment for all members of the University community.  Youth visiting University facilities or participating in University programs and activities require particular attention in order to protect their safety and well-being.  The purpose of the Youth Protection Policy and accompanying procedures is to guide the conduct of University students, faculty, staff, and volunteers who participate in Youth Programs at the University to ensure Youth’s safety while in the University’s care.

Making its facilities and programs safe for the use and enjoyment of faculty, staff, and guests is one of Notre Dame's foremost priorities.  The University is especially sensitive to the vulnerability of minors who are guests on campus or who participate in its programs.  The Youth Protection Policy is an essential element of the University's efforts to address this vulnerability.
